These are pieces of Costa Rican designer Hazel Gonzalez, who displayed their work at the event, after winning a competition for national and international emerging designers who made the same FWLV. The contest was made in the last two months and participated with the national nine pieces from his collection “Manzanillo” highlighting contestants from countries such as South Africa, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, UK, Australia and USA.
His works are divided into three groups: “coral”, which includes a ring, a pendant and earrings; “Palm tree” containing a comb, a necklace and a ring, and “vine” with a necklace, earrings and a bracelet. All were handmade in silver and semiprecious stones, this last item was one of those who made their work won the support of the judges of the contest.
“The competition is open to all designers who wish to have a pre-selection and there are several categories such as red carpet, wedding dresses and accessories; I competed in and won the latter. Achievement is a first for the country and it opens doors to more national designers, “Gonzalez said.
“The jewels are you inspired by the nature of Costa Rica and are handmade, something that caught their attention the judges, because it is something rarely seen in fashion week and is very creative,” he added.
By winning the contest, Gonzalez won the right to display their pieces at Fashion Week Las Vegas, to be held next February. The event will participate international press, potential buyers and galleries.
To the national designer that represents a great opportunity and a great joy, because “Manzanillo” is the first collection of jewelry making.
